why do politicians and news people feel it necessary to cut into my tv time with stuff i really don't care about?

my friend frank's dad made a good point once back in high school. we were all passed out in their living room watching some terrible episode of Saved By the Bell when a news story broke in. frank's dad pointed out that people watching Saved By the Bell are probably not really going to be interested in that news story.

he was so right. i mean, when a news story busts into the soap operas, do they really think that people watching completely unrealistic soaps are at all interested in what's going on in the real world? i think not!

and these primetime presidential addresses? shit, those are bad enough. but George W., you have officially reached a new level of idiocy by making a speech about stuff that no one agrees with you on DURING SEASON FINALE WEEK!!!!!!

so thank you, you son of a bitch, for screwing up my DVR. i now have absolutely no idea how the last 20 minutes of How I Met Your Mother went and it looked like it was going to be a good one that probably had some sort of cliffhanger or something.
