Christmas review
Dec. 26th, 2005 02:07 pmso the water came back on just as my brother got here from work. john booked for the shower to get in first, which is no big deal because he takes all of two minutes. i then let mike in next because he needed to run to Best Buy. so when i got in, not so much hot water. it wasn't freezing, though. just cool.
mom, dad, julie, and andy came shortly thereafter. breakfast for dinner went rather well. john was in charge of his supremely awesome scrambled eggs. i was on pancakes with mike putting his mcdonald's skills to use flipping for me. julie and mom handled the two pounds of bacon, most of which never actually made it to the table. we had fruit and coffee cake and juice and all was quite good and yummy.
mom, dad, john and i went to church, which i only really mention because mom managed to put the kneeler down on john's foot without him noticeing until they went and kneeled on it. kind of amusing.
after church we attempted to find some place that was open to get shrimp for andy. wilson farms was pretty much it and they had canned baby shrimp. not quite what people had in mind, but they ate it anyway.
presents were opened. beezley ate lots of wrapping paper, lots of treats, and the occasional ornament. i never complain about opening presents early so that was nice. julie's gift-giving skills were perfect, as usual, and mom's were also the usual mixture of fun and practical, with a wee bit of bizarre.
after everyone left, we put out the stockings and our presents to each other, although up on the table to keep away from beezley. as an extra precaution, we kept him in our room with us at night. he was clearly wiped out because he didn't wake us up once and was reluctant to get up in the morning.
we got mike up at 8. did the present thing. mike went over to mom's ahead of us while john and i just chilled for a little bit while watching A Christmas Story on TBS. got over there in the afternoon. watched Star Wars Episode III while i read my big fat Far Side collection. ate some turkey. went home. called kevin and john's various family members, and watched several hours of Wonderfalls on Logo while i continued to read Far Side and john deleted stuff from his computer in order to install his new game. we are simple people. geeky, but simple.
