Well, there's a bump on Nora's bottom gums, but that tooth is still taking its sweet time pushing through. Meanwhile, she has bouts of serious crankiness because of it. This has got to be the most drawn out teething experience ever.
Nora is a crawling champion and she has some major speed when she wants it. She plays this game where she crawls away and then turns to make sure we're following her. She loves the chase. Sometimes she chases us around, too. But her favorite thing to crawl towards is anything she's not allowed to touch, especially dog toys. She'll be too old for the Diaper Derby they always have in July during the Canal Fest, but if they had one now, all you'd have to do is have John at the finish line with some dog toys and she'd sweep that contest.
At this point, there are very few things that we don't let Nora eat. There a few things that they tell you to hold off on until at least a year or two because of allergies, etc., but anything else that we have for dinner, we let her try. She has some jars of baby food left to finish off, but I'm already letting her eat whatever they're having for lunch at daycare. This poses a quandary in that I never make anything for real for lunch and I'll have to start doing that so she can have real food to eat. She likes just about everything, too, except broccoli, much to John's dismay.
What seems weird to me is that she has no interest whatsoever in holding her own bottle. As for a cup, we've tried a few different sippy cups, but she still just wants to bite them. We thought we'd go straight to regular cup and she does okay with that, but that will take a much longer time for her to master and once again, she doesn't seem interested in holding it herself. So I'm still unsure as to how that transition will go. I guess she should be on a cup instead of a bottle by about a year, but I don't think we're even close to that yet.
As for me, I started my internship this week so Nora is in daycare three days a week instead of two. My first two days were uber busy, but I was really happy about that. I hate being new someplace and then not having anything to do while they find time to train you, but this was more training in the moment, but not in a bad way. I hadn't thought judicial affairs would be this busy at the beginning of the semester, but it sure was. I think I'm going to really like it. Classes start for me next week and I'm not looking forward to it. Finding time to do everything this semester is going to be a challenge. I may have to cut down on my internet traffic a bit. No more excess time wasters.
Oh, there goes Nora crawling away into the other room out of my field of vision...
