Nora woke up yesterday with a little cough, but it disappeared during the day. Had a fairly normal day, tried out green beans for the first time, went to bed. Woke up at 1 and then proceeded to wake up several times over the course of the next two hours. Nothing we did seemed to help. So that sucked.
When I got her up this morning, she was coughing again. As the day progressed, she was still coughing and she seemed hoarse (sp?) at times. No fever, but I was starting to wonder if she had a bit of a sore throat. I mean, how would I know really? It's not like she can tell me.
Meanwhile, she also was gassy as all get out and none too happy about that, on top of the other stuff. We're blaming the green beans for the time being, so we will be putting those aside and trying them again at another time to see if she has the same reaction.
This made for a less than stellar day overall, but I still would pick staying home with Nora McCrankypants rather than have to move Mike home from his shithole apartment like poor John did today. I hear it was uber gross.
Anyhoo. I wound up calling the doctor's office. They told me there's a virus going around right now that causes a small cough like that and possibly a fever and those that are old enough to talk have been stating that their throats are scratchy. She said that it seems to come and go pretty quick in like three or four days so Nora may be at the peak of it today. I asked her thoughts on daycare for tomorrow and she said if Nora appears to be feeling better, she should be able to go. I'm definitely rooting for her to be better because I have a lot of school projects due in the next couple of weeks that I really need to get on. I suspect John is rooting for her staying home so he can get out of work early when I need to be leaving.
Then there's the problem of having to reschedule her immunizations that we are supposed to be getting Thursday if she's sick. Whatever. I just hope she sleeps well tonight, really.
