I love Halloween. Easily my favorite holiday. I hate when the stores put out stuff early for any holiday other than Halloween. I just love it.
So imagine my bitterness at discovering that for Nora's first Halloween, I have a fricking midterm. Who gives a midterm for an evening class on Halloween? Heartless jerks, that's who.
This got me debating for a while about whether or not I should bother to do much about a costume for her since she and John will be handing out candy and I won't even get to see her until she's already in her jammies. There is a neighborhood parade the weekend before that we could potentially participate in, but I also didn't want to be spending a fortune on a baby costume.
We swung by the Halloween store last night and I ran in while John stayed in the car with the sleeping babe. They had a simple $20 pumpkin costume that was essentially just a pumpkin hoodie and a pair of black pants. I was pretty much sold on that one since it would be easy to put on and take off and didn't have some crazy headpiece that she'd hate and/or want to eat. I ran over to the clearance section, though, and found a $7 baby Red Baron costume. Also pretty easy for her to wear and did I mention it was $7? The guy checking me out said something about how they should sell a Snoopy to go with it and then it dawned on me that I have my old Snoopy doll from when I was a baby that would be perfect for her to hold. Awesome.
Now if we could find some sort of matching thing for John to wear, we'd be gold. And John suggested we make a propellor to put on her Bjorn. Hee hee.
