It's our fifth anniversary today.  We both kept joking that we'd wind up forgetting about it because we're not doing a whole lot about it this year, due to baby tiredness and broke-assedness.

What we've been doing every year is some sort of day trip adventure.  The first year we went to Letchworth State Park.  This is a destination that I avoided for years because my parents always dragged us there.  I mean, I went to college 15 minutes away from there and the only time I went there in those four years was in the last week before graduation because I went on a date and the guy took me there, and we didn't even stay long because the mosquitoes were so bad.  But for Christmas after we got married, Mom gave John a gift certificate to the Glen Iris Inn which is in the park.  So we used it for our first anniversary to eat and do some hiking.

For our second anniversary, we went to African Lion Safari up in Canada.  This is also a place that my parents took us to all the time, but it's because we loved it.  I could let monkeys climb on the car all day long and still find it endlessly entertaining.

For our third anniversary, we went on a wine tasting binge up in Niagara County.  Mmmm, wine.

And last year for our fourth anniversary, we drove up to Toronto to take in a matinee of Spamalot, had some dinner, and went shopping for maternity clothes.

This year, we were thinking of going to Toronto again because the zoo up there temporarily has animatronic dinosaurs and we're geeks like that.  We were trying to decide if we wanted to take Nora or leave her home with Mom or what.  Then in the end, we decided we're just too tired to do a full day trip.

So we're going to go a whopping 15 minutes away to take a tour of the Lockport caves.  There was some minor babysitting drama because Mom would prefer us to bring Nora to her house rather than have her come here, but it was completely illogical for where we're going, and we got it all worked out.  So Lockport caves and then some dinner, probably at someplace as lame as Friendly's, but I want one of their sundaes, damn it.
