I actually thought I wouldn't need a swing before Nora was born.  People told me I'd want one, but we opted not to purchase one, figuring we had tons of stuff to calm her down.  We had a bad day a week or so ago and John ran to Target to get the Fisher Price take-along swing we'd been eyeing up and I can officially not live without it anymore.  Sometimes it's the only place where she'll go down and stay down.  Sometimes even better than if I'm holding her.  I guess I don't rock her as well as the swing does.

Also, I was very hardcore anti-pacifier, but desperate times can call for desperate measures and I'm glad I got some from the hospital, from Motherhood Maternity, and some fancy ones from Julie.  Now I can always keep one handy for those moments where I really need it.

I was wondering if you'd be anti-pac, but I got the bling ones just in case you were not.

Like John-Paul swore that our kids would never, ever, ever sleep with us. Guess who was the one to bring Jacob into to bed with us when he was fussy? I hate sleeping with babies (due to the fact that I am convinced I will suffocate them), so thankfully, they slept in their cribs most of the time.

By the way, now they say that pacifiers are supposed to be BETTER for babies, because it helps reduce SIDS. Who knew I was being a bad mom by only letting them have one when they REALLY needed it?

And how did your first solo day go? I was thinking about you, and wishing you good thoughts.
